What do the names of homeopathic medicines mean? Why are they in Latin?
The names of homeopathic medicines follow simple rules. Take, for example, “Arnica montana 5C.” Arnica montana is the Latin species name of the plant from which the medicine is made. The mother tincture has been diluted one in a hundred parts five times, using the technique of Hahnemann. Homeopaths use Latin names so that each medicine has a unique name that is the same in all languages.
